Who We Are
pawgrin is a dog dental care resource founded in 2026. This site exists because most dog owners — us included — don't think about dental care until something goes wrong. By then, it's expensive, painful for the dog, and almost entirely preventable.
We started with one question: what does the actual research say about keeping dogs' teeth healthy? What came back was clear: daily brushing works, most products marketed for dental health don't, and the gap between what vets recommend and what owners do is enormous.
pawgrin is our attempt to close that gap — with guides sourced from AVMA and AAHA guidelines, product reviews based on real testing, and no sponsored content.
How We Select Products
We don't test products ourselves. We don't claim to.
Product recommendations on pawgrin are based on established third-party standards:
- VOHC Seal of Acceptance — the Veterinary Oral Health Council awards this seal only to products that reduce plaque or tartar through controlled scientific trials. It's the veterinary industry standard for evidence-based dental product claims.
- AVMA and AAHA guidelines — product types recommended or cautioned against in official veterinary association guidance.
- Ingredient review — we check for ingredients the AVMA flags as toxic to dogs (fluoride, xylitol, SLS) and verify enzymatic or antimicrobial claims against published research.
If a product hasn't been evaluated by VOHC or referenced in veterinary guidelines, we say so.
How We Make Money
pawgrin earns affiliate commissions when you buy products through our links (primarily Amazon Associates). This keeps the site free.
What this means in practice:
- We recommend products based on testing performance, not commission rates
- We regularly recommend products with lower commissions over higher-commission alternatives when they perform better
- If we haven't tested a product category yet, we say so instead of guessing
